Accreditation
The Learner Support Facilitator skills programme prepares participants to identify learning barriers, support learners and apply appropriate methods that improve participation and learning outcomes. The programme is registered with the Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) .
Purpose of the Skills Program
The purpose of the programme is to prepare a learner to function effectively as a Learner Support Facilitator within education, training and occupational learning environments.
Learner support involves identifying factors that may prevent learners from progressing successfully and applying appropriate interventions to improve their learning experience.
A competent learner should demonstrate qualities such as communication, problem solving, coaching, emotional intelligence, mentoring and self-confidence.
Qualified learners should be able to:
- Support teaching and learning processes
- Identify, analyse and address learning barriers
- Implement and evaluate learner support methods
- Support learner development and progression
- Conduct formative assessment activities
- Facilitate appropriate learner support
Methodology
Training can be presented at the client's venue when group training is required. Classroom-based face-to-face delivery is available, while online sessions can also be scheduled where appropriate.
A Learning Management System (LMS) is used to manage learning activities and Portfolio of Evidence (PoE) documentation. Participants combine theoretical understanding with practical activities involving learner support and workplace learning situations.
Course Duration
25 days as scheduled in the rollout of the Skills Programme. The programme carries 20 credits.

Learning materials, LMS access, facilitation, assessment, moderation, certification and classroom facilities are included as applicable to the programme delivery arrangement.
Not included:

Who should become a Learner Support Facilitator?
A Learner Support Facilitator plays an important role in helping learners overcome difficulties that may affect their progress.
