Who should become a Skills Development Facilitator Practitioner?

A Skills Development Facilitator Practitioner supports an organisation's approach to workplace learning and employee development. The programme is suitable for HR practitioners, training coordinators, supervisors, managers, workplace learning professionals and individuals responsible for skills planning or development activities.

Participants develop an understanding of how organisational learning needs can be identified, analysed and translated into practical development priorities. This includes working with information from employees, managers and workplace processes to support structured planning.

Skills Development Facilitator Practitioner skills

Effective skills development facilitation requires a combination of planning, communication, analysis, coordination and reporting. Practitioners need to understand both the needs of the organisation and the learning requirements of employees.

Learners develop practical skills in conducting learning and development needs analyses, coordinating skills development processes and maintaining information that can support workplace skills planning and organisational reporting.

Workplace learning and skills planning

Workplace learning is most effective when development activities are linked to genuine organisational and employee needs. A structured needs analysis helps identify gaps in knowledge, practical ability and workplace competence so that appropriate development interventions can be planned.

The programme also develops an understanding of the statutory learning and development environment. This gives participants context for the legislation, structures and processes that influence workplace skills development in South Africa.

Skills development facilitation in practice

Occupational Studies combines structured learning with practical activities and LMS-supported documentation. Participants therefore have opportunities to apply planning, analysis and reporting processes rather than learning the concepts only in theory.

The Skills Development Facilitator Practitioner programme can help participants become more confident when coordinating workplace learning activities, analysing development needs and contributing to organisational skills development processes.
